These lines are available in two different models: a short (SHORT CUT) and a long head (DISTANCE). They are exactly the same weight for the same line rating only the length is different. For instance, if you fish an LPXe 13 8/9, you can choose either a SHORT CUT or a DISTANCE 8/9-weight line for your rod. The purpose of our system is to help you fish as efficiently as possible in a variety of conditions. A DISTANCE head works better in certain situations and a SHORT CUT in others.
Years ago we hesitated when asked to produce our Power Taper shooting heads in fixed lengths and weights. When it comes to the right length and the right weight for shooting heads, it can be a very personal choice as all anglers are different. Therefore, we left the decision up to the individual, after all, in Scandinavia, there is a long tradition in customising fly lines. However, many people new to shooting heads hesitate to cut a new line and are afraid to ruin it. This persuaded us to manufacture READY-TO-GO heads, and we need not have worried - theyve worked out very well indeed. Over the years, weve advised thousands of people as to the correct length and weight to use, so we have a pretty good idea how to match the perfect line to the rod.
SHORT CUT A short head thats easy to lift out of the water. Its a great length when fishing in restricted situations such as with high banks or overhanging trees behind, and when wading deep. The SHORT CUT model is also the preferred choice for anglers fishing shorter rods or for those new to double-handed fishing.
DISTANCE
Wherever there is enough space to use a longer head, this one will produce longer, smoother casts and enable you to cover more water.
POWER TAPER ready-to-go SHOOTING HEAD CODE SYSTEM
When using our new lines, youll want to identify them quickly and easily in the fishing vest or shooting head wallet. Weve therefore given the welded loops different Colors for each line weight and the sleeves are Colored to identify them as DISTANCE or SHORT CUT.
